EGC connects with our neighbors by encouraging local residential gardeners to donate their excess backyard harvest or extra produce purchased at the San Carlos Farmers’ Market, which we distribute to our nonprofit food distribution partners. EGC also helps senior citizens convert a portion of their yards into food gardens.

Backyard Harvest

On the 1st Saturday of every other month, we host a Backyard Harvest Day where we go to our neighbors’ backyards and harvest their unused produce, mostly fruit trees.  All the produce we collect gets donated to the Samaritan House of San Mateo or Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. The produce we donate provides meals for families experiencing food insecurity that very same day.

Want to donate produce? Fill the donatation form or email volunteer@eachgreencorner. We will harvest your produce for you, or you can harvest it yourself and we will pick it up.

Want to help harvest? Sign up for our next Backyard Harvest Day! Or email volunteer@eachgreencorner.org to join the Backyard Harvest Team.

Farmer's Market Booth

Farmers' Market

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month, EGC has a booth at the San Carlos Farmers’ Market. The goal of our booth is to encourage farmers’ market goers to buy a little extra produce and donate it to us. At the end of the market, we also ask vendors if they would like to donate any of their leftover produce. All the produce we collect is donated to the Samaritan House of San Mateo County or the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley that day and made into fresh meals for those who experience food insecurity. Want to help run our booth? Sign up to help at the next Farmers’ Market!

Senior Stewards

Senior Garden Stewards

In partnership with Villages of San Mateo County, EGC partners with senior homeowners who are aging in-home alone to build and maintain sustainable food-producing gardens at the senior’s residence. We enhance seniors’ connection and sense of contribution to the community, while providing regular access to fresh produce. All produce not consumed by the senior resident is harvested by EGC for donation to our nonprofit food distribution partners.
